Our best friend, Amy, has a great pool. We love to go over to her yard and make a mess.

Today is Follow-up Friday hosted by Jodi from Heart Like A Dog. This is where we review the week behind so that we can launch into the week ahead (or something like that).
How did the end of June happen? Is this Follow-up or Fall-behind Friday – I am not sure anymore. Sorry if I haven’t commented on your stuff in awhile, just trying to keep my head above water – but you are all still making me smile so hang in there with me.
Last Caturday I was looking at pictures of Nine when he first came to us. They said he was a year old, but we just don’t think so. At 2 1/2, he is still such a little man. Cat age only matters to humans though, the cats don’t really care. Here’s another one from his first days at the zoo.
Black & White Sunday was the girls after a romp in the water. I added a little grain otherwise you could not see Louise in all her darkness. The balance between the two different coats pushes my minimal photo skills. Wet dogs really teach me about coats: Louise dries before she even gets out of the water, but Sofie…. she is wet for days. Kind of like my curly hair. BOL
By Monday Mischief we were in major chew on each other face mode. Louise just gets so jealous when Sofie wants to lie anywhere near me on the coach. “Mommy is MINE!” They are so funny. In the end, I leave and they wonder what happened. When I return we all chill better. You may remember this picture of them protecting my knees, nicely, from both sides. That is the way I like it.
Tuesday’s Tail focused on some senior puppies that need new homes. Many of you were so upset that people would give up their older sweethearts. It is heartbreaking. But I think about a few things. In these economic times, maybe they want to ensure their elder pets get fed and medical care which they no longer can afford to give them (OK, it’s a stretch.). Or, which really upsets me, the owners are placed in a nursing facility that does not allow animals. I really wish that nursing homes did allow people to take their senior pets with them, I would die quick without mine. Hopefully, I will never have to find out. ADOPT A SENIOR!!
I am happy to say that Sofie is doing somewhat better today. You read her story on Wordless Wednesday. Since it has been 4 days since the vet visit, I took the cone off and am letting her work off the bandage. The vet said try to keep it on 3 to 5 days, so I figure it is safe to start giving her, her head back. The cone really depressed her big time.
You have all been so thoughtful, especially about the conehead toe incident and also my job situation. On Thankful Thursday, as always, I say my blessings. And now, it is Friday.
That’s it for the week. Thanks for playing along with us. Check out the hop below and you can go play with others.

Today is Thankful Thursday and, as usual, we have much to be thankful for.
We are thankful for being Pat Bean’s Blog of the Day That was a sweet surprise because being laid off is making me kind of blue.
She said: “dogdaz http://tinyurl.com/mvjmut7 If this blogger can find something to be thankful for, than I’m sure the rest of us can. I do so believe it’s a zillion times better to have a half-full glass than a half-empty one. And evidently so does this person.”
So many people have been asking me how I can be smiling and laughing through this whole process. I know it must seem weird, but I have been working since I am 14 and I know that I will find work. I guess Pat Bean is right, I am a glass 1/2 full kinda person. I don’t know how to live any other way. My last work day is July 12, so the shock, though real, has not totally hit me yet, I think. Thanks Pat for making my day.
I am also thankful for head cones, though Sofie isn’t. Every time I take the cone off, she starts eating the bandage. Silly me, I thought today I would give her a brake and take the cone off while we take a short walk. I figured she would be busy walking, so she could not chew on it. She sits down in the middle of the street in front of the house, and starts chewing the minute we get going. You should have seen the disgust on Louise’s face. She just wanted to walk!
Back inside with you, Sofie – cone on – end of walk for you. You should have heard her howl when Louise and I left to finish the walk. It was pitiful Thank you cone people or she would have chewed her foot off at this point.

Remember last week I had the dogs nails clipped at PetSmart and they cut the quick on Louise’s back black nail and it bleed. What I did not know is they did something wrong to Sofie too and her nail became loose. It became infected and $$$ vet later, she is now in the ‘cone of shame,’ with daily antibiotics.
All because I did not want to cut them myself because I was afraid of hurting them.
Mommy is sorry, Babies!!! I thought they knew what they were doing!

I was laid off last week after 17 years with my company. If you want to understand more you can read about it on my business blog: http://thedigitalattitude.com . I tell you this because I am thankful.
I am thankful that the universe gave me many years of a good income and the ability to look forward and not dwell on the past. I have good friends and family to help me deal with the sadness and the uncertainty. Something new will come. Change is the only thing we know for sure.
And, of course, I have my furry loves who never let me down. Though life will be changing in ways that none of us can imagine right now, to the animals, I will always be their favorite human. Yes, for this, I am thankful.
