“Dogs with long, fine hair tend to shed less than other breeds. Some breeds shed very little hair. Strictly “non-shedding breeds” do not exist. However, most breeds with single coats are considered “non-shedding” because their shedding is not very noticeable.” – The Science of Fur
The person who wrote that article never met Louise.
Every day when I make my bed, I throw a flannel sheet over it immediately or I will be sleeping in fur.
I carefully tuck the sheet over my pillows and make sure every inch is covered before I go to make breakfast.
But, Louise wants my pillows. No matter how tight under the covers I put them, she digs them out and makes a nest.
It’s no fair! I used to give her a special pillow but she wants all of them. But worse….
The hair, the hair is everywhere!!

Louise is single coated and short hair. Sheis supposed to be the least of my shedders.
With the addition of Charles’ long black hair, I just can’t win.
Thankfully, Sofie doesn’t shed much (even though she has the longest finest hair). Or maybe I just don’t see it because she is blond.

Any ideas how to keep a bed fur free? I know, ban the dogs from sleeping on it! Hahahahaha – good luck with that at DogDaz Zoo.

Charles, the Mugwump, here. I need to talk to you about the trouble I am having with my humans. Being so adorable, as I am, and only 15 lbs., everyone wants to dress me up. Case in point, this little devil costume that Peanut bought me for Halloween. Now, I am not complaining (too much) because I get tons of attention that the other dogs don’t (because I look so darn cute)…. but REALLY… the Devil?

Shouldn’t she have made me “Conan the Barbarian” or some other superhero? Mom says she had to talk Peanut out of turning me into ‘sushi’ for Halloween. Oh well. I guess the Devil isn’t that bad after all.

The poor starving overweight little man.
Surely no one ever feeds him.
We just don’t know where those extra 4 lbs came from.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Mommy had some cashew milk vanilla with cookies crushed in it.It looked really yummy.
I want it. I want it. Give me. Give me. Give me. I want it now!
Mommy is the meanest human. She never shares her food with me.

How fun to spend the day with Aunt B. This is the first time Charles met Aunt B and he quickly decided she is a comfy part of the pack.
I wonder sometimes if family smells similar. Does Charles know that Aunt B belongs to Mommy (we’re sisters)? Do you think that human family’s smell similar? There has been research done that says that humans can tell who their biological family is – but can a dog tell the family of their humans? I think someone needs to find this out. What do you think?

I discovered this place where I can get nice dog and cat toys at a good discount. I actually went in to get some new drinking glasses, because too many have broken and I needed new ones (but I digress).
Knowing my charges as I do, Louise got a stuffing-less Squeaky Skunk, Sofie got a flat bat looking thing that crinkles, and Mr. Charles got a rope and ball. They were so excited and each played with their respective gifts for about 10 minutes. Then, we went outside for a while.
When we returned to the living room, Charles started doing what he does best – toy hoarding. First, he stole Sofie’s crinkle thing – she was distracted so she didn’t put up a fuss. Then he moved onto Louise’s skunk (which appears to be his new favorite). Louise was a bit unhappy, so she went over to her pillow and moped until I rescued skunk and gave it back to her.
The other dogs’ toys are always more fun. Charles ends up sitting on a pile of everyone’s toys so only he has them.

A memorable moment from 2013 (above). Sofie was only 2 (Lu was 3) and it appears from this shot that her full coat had not come in yet (she looks adolescent from the back). Louise and Sofie always wait by the back door to go chase squirrels and birds.

And you can see that not a lot has changed at the back door in 4 years (Oh my, I just noticed that the curtains do look older). Louise and Sofie still wait to chase the squirrels and birds, except now Charles is with them. It is fun to compare how they looked then and now. Hope you have a wonderful, romping, Black and White Sunday!

I used to be part of the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop but Dachshund Nola has taken a break from blogging and Sugar jumped over the rainbow bridge and Golden Woofs, though still blogging, is no longer hosting the Hop. I can’t host Hops because of my infrastructure. Can you?

Happy 9th birthday, little man. Though you’ve only been at the Zoo for 7 months, you have turned our world around. You have made us little dog lovers in a big dog world. Even the cats like you sometimes (especially Noel). Thank you for adopting us and letting us be your final forever home. I guess you had to bite your way through many homes (at least 5) until you found your perfect place with us. Here’s to the next 9.
We love you Mr. Charles, the Mugwump, Little.

You know the look. When your dog gives you that ‘side eye.’ Looking at you like ‘what could you be thinking, human?’ or ‘you want me to do what?’ Hahahahaha. Charles is the master of the look. Maybe it’s a PomChi thing.
Have a great Black and White Sunday.
