Monday Mischief: What To Do If Your Dog REACTS

react

Lulu and Mojo playing

Lulu and Mojo playing

I love the idea that you get what you reward.  With Louise I am always anticipating every situation in the outside world so that she does not freak out, and with Sofie, it is just the opposite, I have to anticipate everything inside to keep her anxious OCD world manageable.

What mischief did you get into today?

DogDaz Fearful Friday: Resources

Many of you know that Louise is a fearful dog.  She needs more space and time than many other dogs for many reasons.  Nothing is ‘wrong’ with Louise, that is just who she is.  I try really hard to work with her fears, not to change her, but to make her life easier.  If you have a fearful dog, you might want to check out this wonderful blog called DINOS (DogsInNeedOfSpace.com).

The following is a great resource list direct reblog from DINOS.  If you are not familiar with them please check them out at dogsinneedofspace.com

Read + Watch

Below you’ll find a list of books, articles, blogs, and videos recommended by Team DINOS on Facebook – everyone from shelter workers to dog trainers pitched in to recommend their top picks for resources that have been helpful for their DINOS. Every dog is an individual and there are many types of DINOS, so please keep in mind that what works for one DINOS family, may not work for another.

This list is always expanding, so be sure to check back and if you’d like to recommend a book, blog, or video, please let me know:info@notesfromadogwalker.com

Tuesday’s Tails: Jacobi & Madge Are Still Waiting For You

So glad you are joining me today for the Dogs N Pawz Blog Hop called Tuesday’s Tails.

Let’s hop to it!  Fosters needed and, of course, forever families.  Jacobi is a great guy, just down on his luck.  And poor Madge, every foster home seems to move on her, and she has been in and out of boarding for 4 months (which is sapping the finances of the little rescue organization). Contact CanineNation.org if you can help.

New Jersey, New York, Penn, New England!!!!  HELP Madge Now.

Madge is a special dog looking for that special someone who can understand how scared the world has made her and help her enjoy all the wonderful things that dogs should enjoy instead of abandonment and pain.

As of this evening, we learned that Madge can no longer go back to her original boarding facility because she suffered the kennel crazies during her first stay there. Madge constantly barked, paced and pleaded to get out of her cage while being boarded, to the point of almost hurting herself. It’s clear to us now that she physically CANNOT go back to boarding, but sadly this leaves us with very little options for Madge and as of Wednesday, July 30, 2014, she will be homeless. Madge cannot be with kids or other dogs (she is not cat tested), so we know that limits her possibilities.

Her previous and VERY kind foster set Madge up with a Banfield account so she can continue to get the medical care she needs. Madge has had a very rough life and she still has a long journey to go, but we know there is a special someone out there to help her along the way. Please share her story and message caninenation.org to help! Shes currently in NJ and needs a miracle now!

Tuesday’s Tails: Urgent Fosters for Sadie & Miss Madge

Let’s hop to it!  Urgent fosters needed and, of course, forever families.  Sadie is a DINOS (dog in need of space) and needs that extra special person just like my Louise, she is in Linthicum, Maryland.  Miss Madge seems like a happy girl and is in Millersville.  Contact CanineNation.org if you can help.

Miss Madge’s Story

Almost a month ago, Canine Nation animal rescue moved three shelter pups to Fieldstone Animal Inn in Millersville, Md, where they receive they utmost care and royal treatment!! They are very thankful for their friends at Fieldstone, but know, as well as they do, that they are not an answer to a permanent home. With the help of so many, they were able to find loving fosters for Pablo and Gibson, who just found his today- yippee!!! But so far, the last little lady, Miss Madge has been left behind.   She is sweet and a total lovebug, and she walks well on a leash too!!  They think this mannerly miss will do well with kids and possibly even pups too (they reevaluate her on a case by case basis). She needs love bad, just look at that kind hearted smile, gently awaiting her furever home!  Please share, write in to foster, adopt or even make a donation to support them in keeping her safe in her boarding-kennel.  Miss Madge is spayed and up-to-date on all her shots.  What a great pal she would make.  She is watching for you to come get her.
