Just another DogDaz morning at the zoo ❤
Well, it is that time of week to look back so that we can look forward.
People were very taken with the wonderful angels, Gertrude and Squash, who were present on the blog last weekend. I appreciate the nice comments, we all have our fur angels and sometimes we need them to visit more than others. I am blessed to have a whole zoo of angels that all come visit from time to time.
The dogs were so bored after their Monday Mischief that I had to break out a new Bo-Bo. All those toys and they can’t find anything to do. Amazingly (and I really should not say anything or I will jinx it), the new Bo-Bo still lives!!! But let us see what destuffing goes on tomorrow.
We really appreciated the response to Meet Mini Beaver. It was great to find out that Sofie is not alone in her attachment to a Lovey. Droppie, of AngelWhisper has a squeaky duck; Misaki has a squirrel; Doggy has his blanket, and; the humans at Animal Couriers make sure that when their dogs have a Lovey they go buy lots of extras. Cupcake on the other hand, like Louise, is fickle and will play with anything (or not).
Knee Update: The bad news is, as expected, I tore the Menisus in the left knee. But the good news is: not planning surgery immediately (I do hope that is good – right?) Since I already have trouble with the knees we are going to take the most conservative approach. The doctor shot the knee with drugs and I am going to go to Physical Therapy to try and get the muscles stronger. He said 50% of people are not bothered by the pain of a tear after about 12 weeks (that seems like a long time). We are hoping that it will stop hurting even though it will never go away. When I asked him if I would every be able to knell again, he was a little hesitant to say anything other than, “you may have limitations.” Wish me luck, folks. All I want to do is get back to my walk every day with the dogs. We are all going crazy! Maybe next month.

Catching you up on this and that is what Follow-up Friday is about:
The knees. (What Do Other People Do?) Still waiting for MRI. Don’t understand why it takes 2 weeks to get authorization, but it is a good thing that I am a patient person. I assume if I was bleeding out, they would just let rigor mortis set in. I have an appointment with Surgeon next week. Probably tore the meniscus, but with all the arthritis in my knees, this could be a long road back. But anyway, the dogs have decided that they need to protect my knees and immediately, upon returning home from my trip, had to find ways to both apply pressure to each one.
I am absolutely enforcing the ‘don’t run down the stairs before the human’ rule (which sometimes I am lax about). They must stay at the top of the stairs until my cane and my legs get down to the bottom, or I do let them go before I even start (I figure that is safer for all). Nine, the Mancat, has taken to throwing his full little body on the steps when I am coming up, and now he has also been added to the obstacles to be avoided.

Sofie had never seen snow before (I guess we did not get much last year). She was running around like a crazy dog. When she finally calmed down, she just stood in the yard and looked on in amazement. They had so much fun running around chasing each other until finally Louise decided she was cold and wanted to come in. I think Sofie would still be out there, if I let her.

It was a very busy week here at the DogDaz Zoo. All the kids are home and we have many more beds to jump on and rooms to run it. We also worked hard to get a lot more cuddles and pats on the head and treats…. lots of treats. The family was very busy wrapping boxes and putting crinkly stuff in bags and we had fun helping. Mommy told us that we had to be very good the night before Santa Paws came, because we were home by ourselves for a really long time and he would see. (Well sort of good because Mom doesn’t know that I have started to sneak on the big bed and lie on her pillows when she is out of the house: it smells like her and that makes me feel comfy. And since Mom didn’t know, and Sofie and the cats were sworn to secrecy, no one told Santa Paws, so I was in the clear.) All the humans went to Grammie’s with all those boxes and bags. But we saw that our stocking were still hanging, so Santa Paws was not going to forget us. Then the humans got home and Mom put us to bed and in the morning we saw that Santa Paws had come sometime during the night. By afternoon, the Bobos were NObos, and the bacon bones were history. What a great week we had, we hope your’s was special too. – Lulu Belle

Every day I wake up in a heap of cats. For that I am thankful. Then I open the kennel doors and I am slobbered and licked and tail whipped good morning, and for that I am thankful. There is no where that I go in my home that I am not accompanied by some four legged furry, and for that I am thankful. How totally different my life would be without my fur family. Since about 5 years old (which was a very very long time ago), I have always had fur family. And, for that, I am thankful. There are so many positive things that I get from my pets. They comfort me when I am blue. They are my walking partners. They make sure that I do not forget to do my chores (or they will do them for me: like cleaning the litter boxes in a way that I do not think is acceptable or licking the dirty dishes clean). They give me smiles on a rainy day and provide me hugs. They make me get up from the computer and go outside to feel the breeze. And, so importantly, they make me laugh (especially Louise). Life with furry family is wonderful to me.

If it is Thursday, then it must be Thankful Thursday Blog Hop day. I am hopping this from PepsiSmartDog’s Smart Dog Blog. Pepsi seems like a well educated dog, so go check out the site.
Last week was Thanksgiving holiday in the US, and I know that I said thank you to all my readers and for all the wonderful things that I am thankful for, but the truth is, every day that I wake up I am thankful. I do not think that I ever stop feeling blessed by this wonderful life that I have. My great family, the animals that surround me, my great neighborhood, my friends, my health, my job…. I am just one very lucky person. But since this is an animal blog, I think that I need to look at it from their side. So let me ask some of them:
Louise: I am thankful that I have a family that loves me and protects me; a Mom who understands that I am afraid of a lot of things and doesn’t make me deal with the world any more than I really can. I am also really thankful for being able to get up on the den couch.

Sofie: I am thankful for my sister Louise, and for my cats (that I love to chase), all my toys, and especially for my lovey, Beaver.
Noel: I am thankful for the nice warm spot that Mom leaves in her bed in the morning, so that I can crawl in it and sleep the rest of the day.
Stella: I am thankful for a bed to hide under.
What are you thankful for today?
